Quarry Hill Farm is a very
unique property. It is a 200 acre property running along the
Niagara Escarpment on the Credit River side.
The property has a natural divider into three levels with approximately 180 foot elevation changes between levels. The upper tier is heavily wooded with maple trees and numerous stone and outcroppings running along the top of the escarpment and is the location of a Napier Simpson design cottage with a wonderful back view over the city. The middle tier, which is partially open and level, was the site of an active commercial stone quarry during the 1880 - 1920's. The quarry operation has left the property with numerous trails(roads) and a one acre quarry pond which is the signature feature of the property and the location of the main house and recreation area. The middle tier was also the location of several unsuccessful agricltural attempts during the 30's and 40's and thos residual open areas are
now the location of the
current Quarry Hill Alpaca barns, corals and pastures. The lower tier of the property is equally unique and contains numerous trails ans 4 man made ponds. The property was owned by the William Twait family in the 60's and 70's and used as a private weekend retreat. The property was purchased by the Thomas Davidson family in the early 80's whi have added several buildings to the property including Quarry Hill Alpaca farming operations.
