About Peter and Dawn Balog
Born and raised in the Brantford Ontario area, Peter and Dawn were destined to become both childhood sweethearts and future business partners . Their respective families were involved in various businesses in and around the Brantford area. As both Peter and Dawn were major players in these business ventures, it naturally followed that they would want to strike out on their own.
Peter had been working in a management position for a manufacturing business in Brantford while Dawn was busy learning the chicken processing business from the ground up.
Deciding to combine their talents, they soon found themselves involved in an ever increasing number of very successful business ventures throughout southern Ontario . This success, as is often the case, involved total commitment, not only from Peter and Dawn but other members of their families. It was becoming apparent the businesses were beginning to take away from their enjoyment of both life and family. A change of pace and a chance to enjoy the fruits of their labours was about to present itself.
Dawn saw an newspaper ad offering the position of property managers for Quarry Hill Farms. After a couple of meetings with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Davidson, owners of the property, Peter and Dawn realized this position would allow them the opportunity to continue to learn, grow and enjoy the calming effects that working with Alpacas present.
Upon securing the position, the Davidson's enabled Pete and Dawn to become involved with the first Alpaca Canada Conference meeting, held last November in Toronto . After meeting with many other Alpaca breeders and getting a feel for the future direction of their association, they decided to take a leading role in raising the awareness of Alpaca breeding in Canada .
Plans are now being implemented to continue the import of additional Alpacas to Quarry Hill Farms. As a result, Pete is now managing the enlargement of the Alpaca barns, corrals and pastures. At the same time Dawn is enjoying the opportunity to develop her own retail store where both imported and Canadian Alpaca fashions will be offered.
Please feel free to contact Peter or Dawn to discuss your business plans. Or, if you just want to drop in and see the operation, please give them a call. Their enthusiasm is sure to rub off on you!
